Little Missy's Guide To Surviving Super Bowl 2016
Don't Worry--Your Secret's Safe With Me!

Many years ago when Little Missy was but a mere child, that is to say, a faculty wife on the Stanford campus, Super Bowl XIX came to our little piece of paradise.  Yes, Joe Montana, the 49ers, the whole big moment--all but a blip on my local radar.  My, how we have changed since 1985.  Now Super Bowl has become so huge that no one can tell if it is a good thing or a bad thing. We all hope it is a good thing.  A good thing for local merchants.  But not a good thing for traffic.  So here is Little Missy's Guide to Surviving Super Bowl 50.  And where did the Roman numerals go?  That was a rather chic touch.
It goes without saying that you have had your hair styled and had your usual manicure and pedicure.  For those of us who normally wear make up, Little Missy decrees this day a no makeup day, save for your usual creams and lip balms.  You are relaxing at home today, with no hyper testosterone types to interfere with your serenity.  I think it's also a good day for a little detox, but we will get to that later.

Hanro Isabeau lounging ensemble, elegant comfort.

Natori Faux Fur Wrap, warm and cosy and no animal was hurt.
A Pair of Vintage Fifties Verdura Cuffs, because we are feeling the moment.

Emma Hope Ballet Flats

YSL Volupte Sheer Candy Number 6 Cherry Red.

Creed Fleurissimo Cologne.  If it was good enough for Grace Kelly and good enough for Madonna it will probably do. Bergamot, tuberose, Bulgarian rose, violet Florentine iris and ambergris.  What is not to love?

Now for the detox.  Have lots of bottled water around. I prefer Evian, because Panne is more difficult to obtain. If I can obtain Panne, of course I prefer it. In the morning brew a leisurely cup of Verbena tea, using of course whole leaf tea and Evian water.  Perhaps have a papaya.  Of course you will nibble on almonds after you do your leisurely stretches. The hoopla will begin in the early afternoon---a perfect time to take a walk as the outside air will be car fume-free.  Briefly change into an exercise costume (which you will quickly remove and return to your lounging ensemble when you are home). Bring your iPhone and take pictures of the trees and flowers in bloom, which you may post on your Instagram!  Come home and enjoy a salmon salad made with mache and pomegranate seeds!  Then put on some music...I suggest romantic music like Nat King Cole or Sting (in his day).  Here is a good reading list:

Queen Sugar by Natalie Baszile
My Brilliant Friend (Book One) by Elena Ferrante
About Women by Lisa Alther and Francoise Gilot
The Confidence Game by Maria Konnikova
My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinem

Then there are old movies, like The English Patient, Chinatown, Now Voyager...the list is endless...sip more water and brew another pot of Verbena tea.  For dinner, make a frittata with fresh herbs and enjoy some berries.  Curl up under a velvet throw,

an Yves Delorme Velvet Throw, or as they say,  Cocon Footquilt.  Read, write letters in your beautiful collected museum note cards or personalised stationery.  Let your loved ones know how much they mean to you and do it in your own handwriting.  Then drift off to slumber land, knowing that you have treated yourself very well, and are off to a brilliant new week!
Love to all my readers whether you are football fans or not!

  1. Oh Little Missy, what wonderful advice! A-to-Z with Little Missy! I shall follow to the letter and to the Roman numeral L.
