Decluttering Gurus

Someone's trying to Zen Up Little Missy!

We need them, right?  Little Missy logged onto Facebook early this morning and out jumped theories from Kondo, the decluttering guru of Japan.  Apparently Kondo has become famous and made quite a name for herself being hired to go into people's houses and throw out all the stuff that is unnecessary.  Here are some of Kondo's hints:
1.  Begin with your clothes, since clothes are the least important.  Least important?  Kondo, are you crazy?

This will look like my closet never, Kondo, never!

2. Lesson Two, Respect Your Belongings!  "Kondo asks that you consider your clothing's feelings:  are they happy being squashed in a corner shelf or crowded onto hangers?"  Kondo's got an answer for that one too in Lesson Three:

 3. Lesson Three, Nostalgia Is Not Your Friend.  Fold your clothes in a special way and put them into drawers where you are currently keeping your old love letters and photographs.

4. You better believe it, Lesson Four:  Purging Feels SO Good! Throw out all those old letters and photographs!  Oh, OK! Done!  Can we wait a few years?

5. Lesson Five: Fold, Don't Hang....sometimes, Kondo, sometimes.  But not always. Sometimes you will just get impatient sorting through your dressers.  But Kondo has an answer to this problem, too!

 6.  Lesson Number Six:  The Fold!  It's all in the fold, called the KonMari vertical fold, "which applies from everything from T-shirts to stockings", the two things Little Missy doesn't wear!  So it doesn't apply to me, but if it applies to you I hope Little Missy has helped you by passing along this these informative tips. Thank you, Kondo!  Thank you, onekingslane!  By the way, if these tips have proved helpful to you, can you email me and tell me what your secret is?  Do you meditate?  Is your past so disposable to you?   Do you have a decluttering guru?
